Support for South Burnett Chefs
November 24, 2006 - The Peanut Van is proud to come on board as the first sponsor for Team South Burnett ... local chefs who hope to represent the South Burnett at the 2007 LifeStyle FOOD Channel Australian Regional Culinary Competition in Adelaide.

The team will utilise peanuts in their menu and hope to wow the judges at the competition.

"We visited Rob at his idyllic farm, located just outside of Kingaroy, to talk about peanuts and we were overwhelmed when he handed over a cheque," said Team South Burnett captain Jason Ford.

And WIN-TV News even did a story! We found the following link on video sharing website YouTube (just press play)

October 30, 2006 - The Peanut Van was honoured to be named the Business of the Year at the 2006 Heritage Building Society Kingaroy Business Awards dinner on Saturday night.

We also were successful in the Tourism Ambassador category which we won for the third time ... which means we will now enter the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame!.

Last month, The Peanut Van was entered into the Hall of Fame at the 2006 Fraser Coast South Burnett Tourism Awards after winning the Retail Tourism category three times.

Lyte & Crunchy Launched!
September 20, 2006 - The Peanut Van, in conjunction with PCA, launched a "world's first" new peanut product Lyte & Crunchy at this year's Kingaroy Peanut Festival.

Lyte and CrunchyThe new product is made from peanut kernels which have been squeezed to release their peanut oil.

Two varieties, Butterscotch & Caramel and Sugared, were unveiled. They are high-protein, low-fat snacks which should prove attractive to health-conscious consumers.

Lyte & Crunchy is the result of co-operation between The Peanut Van, the Federal Government's New Industries Development Program and some innovative technology developed by PCA.

We test-marketed the two varieties at our Childers' van and the result was overwhelming ... yum! Many people thought they'd make an easy and tasty breakfast treat!

They're now available for purchase at both our vans ... so come along and try our exciting new "world's first" peanut snack!

Strong Champion
of Peanuts

September 9, 2006 - The Peanut Van was proud to sponsor a visit to Kingaroy this week by Australian Natural Body Building Champion (and phone book star!) Allison Jackson (right) at the 2006 Kingaroy Peanut Festival.

Alison Jackson Allison spoke to students about a healthy diet and exercise at the Kingaroy State High School and South Burnett Catholic College as well as speaking at local fitness clubs Cardiac Central and Kingaroy Fitness Centre.

She also appeared at the DPI&F Farmers' Breakfast which was held in O'Neill Square, Kingaroy, on Peanut Festival morning and at cooking demonstrations by local chef Jason Ford during the day.

Third Win At
Tourism Awards

November 1, 2005 - For the third year running, we've been pleased (and humbled) to accept the "Retail Tourism Award" at the annual Fraser Coast South Burnett Regional Tourism Awards.

This means we will now be inducted in 2006 into the local Tourism Board's "Hall of Fame".

We couldn't have done it without our loyal staff members who've been behind us all the way ... thanks everyone!

Thank You Childers!
The Peanut Van - ChildersOctober 1, 2005 - Thank you Childers for the warm welcome you've given us since Isis Shire Mayor Cr Bill Trevor (a peanut grower himself!) officially opened our second van on September 15.

While Kingaroy is still the Peanut Capital of Australia, Childers is located in the heart of a rapidly expanding peanut-growing area so it was only fitting that we'd locate our second van here.

The new van, which is situated on the Bruce Highway on the northern outskirts of town, sells all the old favourites offered in Kingaroy: roasted, raw and boiled peanuts; 12 varieties of flavoured peanuts, peanut paste, peanut chocolate brittle, peanut ice-cream and peanut-themed souvenirs.

If you're in the area, drop by and say hello!

Good Things Come
In Small Packages ...

September 1, 2005 - The Peanut Van only sells 100 per cent Australian "Hi Oleic" peanuts.

But what does "Hi Oleic" (“o-lay-ic” ) actually mean? These are naturally better peanuts which have been bred with a different oil make-up to “regular” peanuts (but absolutely no GMOs). Hi Oleic peanuts have more monounsaturated (healthy) oleic oil and less saturated (unhealthy) oil - just like olive oil!

And they stay fresher for much, much longer (although we still recommend that you always store your peanuts in the refrigerator).

The Peanut Van sells only jumbo grade peanuts but jumbos in the new Hi Oleic "Runner" varieties available are smaller than the old "Virginia" peanuts formerly grown. We know this will disappoint some of our loyal customers but we hope to soon be able to offer a limited number of Hi Oleic Virginia-style peanuts which will have the larger kernels that we all love! We ask our customers to be patient until the 2006 harvest starts rolling in ...
